NIFES UNIPORT ASSOCIATE FORUM

Summary of Associates Day on campus Program held on Sunday April 23, 2017 at the Convocation Arena, University of Port Harcourt.

The NIFES Uniport President, Bro Kalio Daniel gave the opening remarks. He welcomed all the associates present. He shared some of the progress that the fellowship has made so far. He talked about getting a bus for NIFES Uniport called – The Brethren and that the cost of the bus is 14 million. He also talked about the 2017 LIFE programme and NIFES missions program — work-camp and the selected venue for this year Is Oru Abalala in Asaritoru local government Area of Rivers states.

Next, Pst Musa Lazarus talked about the efforts to reorganize the NIFES Uniport alumni forum. He told the house that the alumni constitution has been completed and adopted. He show the hard copy of the constitution and said it is ready. He also said members of the Board of Trustees are Sis Mary, Bro Musa Lazarus, and Bro Belema Iyalla. He said that two additional members will join them to make them five in total. He also said that a letter from the National body of NIFES will be needed to commence full management of the forum

The NUNA Associate Mentor award was given to Brother Okwudiri Anasiudu for his mentorship towards the students. Professor B. E Okoli was on hand to present the award certificate to Bro Okwudiri.

After the award presentation, Bro Misa Grabriel talked on the NIFES Uniport Alumni forum mentorship scheme. He urge students and associates to maximize the opportunity to get career counsel from more experienced mentors. Next, Bro Anthony Ogana discussed the NUNA entrepreneurial grant for young students and associates who have small project ideas that meet the grant’s requirements.

Our speaker for the occasion was Mr. Olamide Falase, a business system consultant. He talked on entrepreneurship. According to him, people who would like to become entrepreneurs should count the cost before getting into it. He read from Luke14:28-31. He also encouraged adequate planning before starting up any business. Also partnership forms were distributed to the Associates who attended the service.

 

Finally Professor B.E Okoli gave some words of encouraged to all those in attendance. Then the Zonal President – Bro Josiah Fidelis closed the fellowship.
